Anime Review: Shakugan No Shana

The story starts by introducing Sakai Yuji as a normal boy who thought that the world he lives in is so beautiful. One day while he is on his way back from school, he suddenly encounter a Fuzetsu(A barrier which timestop everybody and everything). The next scene he saw was monsters coming out from no where killing and sucking out humans' "existence"(You may sub this with spirit). Those monsters which they called them Kuze no Togara, found out that Sakai was an exception as he could move within the barrier. The reason being is that Sakai is a "mistes", someone who has a treasure inside him.

As the monsters proceed to him for the treasure... suddenly a girl with red flame eyes and hair appeared to help Sakai! The girl whom Sakai named her Shana explained everything to him.. including her being a flame haze(someone who is assigned for eternity to kill those monsters), and also told him that after someone existence has been eaten, that person no longer holds any memories. She refers them to as "Torches". These "torches" have this blue flame within their body and will slowly disappear.

To Sakai who also holds a blue flame within his body, it was a terrible shock so much so that he didnt believe it at the beginning. Who wouldnt feel real shock after discovering himself/herself dead? Since Sakai was a mistes, the treasure inside him which was known as Reigo Magi(with capability of replenishing his power of existence at the stroke of midnight everyday), prevented him from disappearing. The story unfolds from there when Sakai managed to accept the truth about their world and started training so he can helped Shana. They both slowly fell in love with each other as they encounter alot of obstacles together.

I would say that the most interesting part about the anime is Shana. She is trained from young to fight and to accomplish tasks as a Flame Haze only. Therefore, Shana as a young girl does not know much about love, feelings and such. There is a particular scene where she went researching in the library and newspaper on what a kiss means. However, we do know books and newspaper of such genre would only give her facts instead of opinions. She got really confuse and went to consult Sakai's mum instead. After the explaination, she was still like so confuse. She's real cute. :P
